Massac HS Boys to Take the Field for the First Time!
The Massac Soccer Patriots took the field for the first time in school history for a scrimmage game against Community Christian Academy - CCA (Paducah, KY) on August 2, 2010. Possible scrimmage games could be arranged for two dates at the end of August. Check back here often for any announcements concerning these pre-season games.
1st Regular Season Game: Thursday Sept 9 @ Harrisburg at 5pm
Note about the HS Girls Soccer Program: In Illinois, the girls play games during the spring season. No summer practices are being planned for the girl's team at this time. It is suggested for girls interested in soccer that if they are not already participating in a fall sport, to join the cross-country team to get in better condition. Also for this fall, the McCracken Co. Soccer League has competitive and recreational possibilities that might be available to you. Deadline to register is Aug 15. Fall Youth Soccer Walk-up Registration conducted on Aug 7
The Massac Soccer Boosters once again conducted a local walk-up registraton for the upcoming fall soccer season. We had a great turnout and more than what we anticipated sign-up on that day. Indication once again we will have a large group from Massac/Metropolis playing within the McCracken Soccer League. Handed out cool-looking backpacks with a soccer ball design for all that signed-up. Thanks to all the came that day to register, all they volunteered to make that worked, and the our sponsors who provide the financial means to conduct these every season.
This registration will be for participation with the McCracken Co Youth Soccer League, which nearly all Metropolis-Massac recreational youth players presently play in.
If you missed the sign-up or haven't registered yet, it's still not too late but you need to act fast. A late fee is now applied and Sept 2 is the absolute last date you can register. Go to www.mccrackensoccer.com and register on-line ASAP, if you're wanting to play this fall.

"Meet the Coach" Meeting on June 22 A BIG Success!
Great turnout and kick-off the HS Soccer Program at Massac. Head Coach Marty Painter and Assistant Coach Brock Frazier were introduced. Many worked hard and provided valuable support to make this day a reality. Soccer is officially here!

The HS has begun plans for soccer to be an official sponsored sport for both the boys and girls at the high school level. Boys will begin play in fall 2010 while the girls season will get to kickoff in spring 2011. See full-story by clicking the "Scholastic Soccer" tab on this website.

Interested in getting a full understanding of the rules? Interested in getting or staying involved with the game? Interested in having fun (yes, being a referee is fun) and having a rewarding experience? Interested in making a few bucks on the side? Well..soccer refereeing may be for you!
For anyone who may be interested in becoming a certified referee, there are certification courses typically conducted in January or February. Click on the "Referee" tab for additional information and news concerning refereeing.
